College math and beyond
I’ve helped countless college and university students, as well as working adults, get better grades, strengthen their math skills, and build a bridge over a subject that will help them their entire lives. They succeed in their classes and move forward toward their futures, feeling more confident and better prepared for using math in real life application. I tutor basic math, all levels of college algebra, trigonometry and precalculus.
Writing coaching
Many adults struggle to write. As a professional writer and editor, I walk students through the writing process, one step at a step, and correct or clarify any missteps as needed. They work on their brainstorming, outlining, introduction, thesis, support, conclusion, and finally, self-editing skills. I promote critical thinking and apply this to writing so students understand how to organize and develop their own reasoning. I dissect paragraphs for them so they know how to compose a strong, logical composition of sentences. We also focus on writing mechanics, where I guide them through correct grammar usage, sentence structure, punctuation, word usage, and transitions. Students practice writing on a regular basis so they can benefit from my feedback and support.
CBEST test prep
I have prepared hundreds of students for the CBEST math, CBEST reading, and CBEST writing sections. Students who worked with me have been incredibly successful in raising their scores, by as high as 20 points after 10 lessons. Others finally passed sections they had retaken 3 or 4 times on average. If students are committed to their test prep, I simplify the steps they need to take and show them how to use prep and practice materials effectively to maximize their scores.
CLEP test prep
Created by College Board, the CLEP exams give you the opportunity to earn college credits for college courses just by taking tests. All you have to do is pass! I offer complete test prep for these CLEPs: College Algebra, College Math, Precalculus, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, College Composition, and College Composition Modular.
