Many colleges and universities still want applicants to have great ACT scores. For over 13 years, my ACT tutoring has included complete test preparation for all sections of the ACT. I only use official practice materials and other trusted resources during lessons. My most recent student raised his ACT Math score from a 27 to a 34 after just 8 lessons, for a composite score of 35!
ACT English
Students need to understand and recognize correct grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure to score well in this section. We target concept knowledge and skill application as part of their test prep.
ACT Reading
Since this section has four passages always set in four predetermined topic areas, I drill students through key question types and testing strategies to strengthen their reading comprehension, analytical skills, and time management.
ACT Science
Possibly the hardest section on the test, ACT Science tests students’ analytical skills and their ability to correctly interpret graphs and data. Together, we maximize their reading comprehension skills to glean necessary information and “translate” it into simple instructions.
ACT Math
The ACT Math section has a diversified mixture of advanced math problems. Students go through a complete concept review based on their performance in practice material, as well as an analysis of their mistakes and how to avoid similar mistakes in the future.
Tutoring includes:
Study plan based on previous ACT score results or initial practice test scores
Complete review of ACT concepts and strategies with targeted practice
Lesson notes (PDF format)
Weekly feedback on student progress and homework completion (available for all sections)
Timed practice sets and mock practice tests
FAQ
Do you offer a full test prep program?
No, I am a test prep tutor. I guide students through their test prep with targeted concept review, strategies, and time management techniques. I do not have a one-size-fits-all approach or set curriculum for everyone to follow.
Do you offer classes?
No, I offer one-on-one tutoring or lessons, not classes. A teacher teaches classes with many students, while it is up to the discretion of every tutor to design a class (or group lesson, which is similar to a class in format). A class includes lesson plans and curriculum, while tutoring adjusts to the needs of every student with no fixed plans.
Can you guarantee a score increase on the actual test?
Successful test prep depends entirely on a student’s commitment to a study plan, daily practice, and application of strategies and techniques learned during lessons. I personally cannot promise that any student will definitely raise scores just because of my tutoring. However, students who practiced diligently and listened to my advice during lessons — and applied it — did in fact raise their scores significantly.
How many lessons will my child need?
Practice test results or previous test results help me see where we need to focus our efforts the most, but estimating how many lessons every student needs is not that simple. Some students need more support, while others need less. My first recommendation is to start test preparation as early as possible before a test date. My next recommendation is to consider any struggle areas a student may already have in a specific subject area, like math or reading. This will give you a better idea of how much tutoring your child may need.
Student Reviews
“Very organized and methodical tutor who gets results. Natalie is a fantastic tutor! She helped my student prepare for the math section of the ACT in a very thorough and focused way. Natalie quickly identified the concepts that needed additional review and targeted her sessions and homework assignments accordingly, checked in between tutoring sessions, and sent additional assignments to help hone in on remaining challenge areas. I really appreciated her clear and very timely communication. She’s been a great pleasure to work with!”
